Lean Six Sigma Healthcare Yellow Belt Certification

This 8-hour course provides introductory Lean Six Sigma training through a simulated classroom project.  Through this course, students will be able to earn their Lean Six Sigma Healthcare Yellow Belt certification and leverage tools and methodologies to eliminate waste, optimize performance, and maximize value in all aspects of healthcare operations. 

Upon completion of the course, students will be better prepared to contribute positively to their organization’s current or future Lean Six Sigma journey.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand Lean Six Sigma’s chronological path from manufacturing to present day healthcare

  • Identify the 5 Principles of Lean

  • Identify the 8 wastes in healthcare

  • Define Six Sigma

  • Explain standard deviation, upper/lower control limits and special/common cause variation

  • Explain workplace organization using 5S

  • Explain the important role of team dynamics

  • Identify the 5 phases of DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control)

  • Demonstrate the use of:

  • Demostrate the use of Problem statement/SMART Goals

  • Demostrate the use of SIPOC

  • Demostrate the use of the Communication Plan

  • Demostrate the use of Value Stream/Process Mapping

  • Demostrate the use of the Fishbone Diagram

  • Demostrate the use of Impact vs. Effort Matrix

  • Demostrate the use of the Implementation Plan

  • Demostrate the use of the Control Plan

  • Demostrate the use of an A3 Project Summary
